ABOUT JOHN SUNUNU

John Sununu knows the Granite State. John grew up in Salem, graduated from Salem High, and lives in Rye. He always strives to reflect the character of New Hampshire: independent, practical, and results-oriented.
His earliest political memories are of his mother, Nancy, who served as chair of the Salem School Board and was a catalyst for the family’s long commitment to public service. She taught him the values of integrity and straight talk—and the important truth that the people of New Hampshire make better decisions than any Washington bureaucrat ever could.
After earning degrees in engineering, John built a successful career in high tech, engineering, consulting, and manufacturing. Prior to Congress, he ran the operations of an electronics company in Manchester for several years.
During his time representing New Hampshire in Washington, John took on government waste, defended the rights and privacy of ordinary Americans, and protected seniors.
He consistently opposed tax increases and, as a Senator, wrote the law to ban taxes on internet access. He’ll oppose all middle-class tax hikes and work to make life more affordable for New Hampshire families by focusing like a laser on reducing inflation and lowering the cost of housing, healthcare, and energy.
He co-sponsored legislation restoring protections for Americans with disabilities, ensuring that everyone can live, learn, and work with dignity.
He championed bipartisan mental health reforms to treat mental illness like the disease it is, helping families across the country.
Never afraid to do what’s right, he pushed to reform surveillance laws to protect ordinary Americans. Today, as privacy is again under threat from government overreach and Big Tech, John will hold them accountable and defend every American’s right to be free from surveillance.
Never one to stand still, John has continued to serve New Hampshire and work in high tech since leaving Congress. Most recently, he has taught at St. Anselm College in Manchester, served as chairman of the board for the Waterville Valley Ski Resort, and as a Director at Boston Scientific—a leading manufacturer of breakthrough medical devices. John has also served as a board member for several charitable, educational, and nonprofit organizations across the country.
John and his wife, Kitty, have been married for more than thirty years and are the proud parents of three children.
