For weeks, Chris Pappas refused to condemn Graham Platner. When Platner was revealed as an anti-semite with a Nazi tattoo, Pappas stood by him. When the New York times reported on Platner’s mistreatment of women, use of racial slurs, and other disturbing behavior, Pappas stood by him.

Even after reports of multiple sexual assaults became public, Pappas's silence continued. Pappas ONLY spoke out an hour AFTER the Maine Democratic Party formally called on Platner to step down.

"For weeks Chris Pappas had the opportunity to show independent leadership and for weeks he failed," John Sununu said. "Chris Pappas' failure to speak out when he could have made a difference is an insult to those who suffer abuse, and his weakness is an embarrassment to the people of New Hampshire."
