New Hampshire U.S. Senate candidate John Sununu issued the below statement following the vote by Rep. Chris Pappas against reopening the federal government:
“Once again, Chris Pappas voted in lock step with Nancy Pelosi and the extreme left-wing liberals. Even worse, Pappas proved that if he was in the Senate today the federal government would stay shut down by opposing the bipartisan agreement negotiated by New Hampshire Senators Shaheen and Hassan. Chris Pappas doesn’t seem to care that Granite Staters have been suffering with cuts to nutrition programs, delayed Social Security checks, and furloughs at the Portsmouth Shipyard. As Senator, I’ll always put New Hampshire first.”
According to Axios, Senator Shaheen at a recent press conference said: “When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"
